Creative and Body-Based Interventions for Managing Stress and Healing Trauma
Sunday, May 18, 2014
10:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.

Stress and traumatic memories are often stored in the body. Art-based, creative interventions may allow you to access different levels of awareness and knowing that can cut through your defenses. Also, learning to listen and tune into your body can help you cope with everyday life, chronic stress, and even trauma.

This workshop is for anyone interested in learning creative, body-based interventions to cope with stress and heal from trauma that can be practiced at home. Meditation, guided imagery and relaxation, trauma-sensitive yoga, and self-massage as well as artistic expression will be explored. Participants will also develop a basic understanding of the body's stress and relaxation responses.
No previous art of yoga experience is necessary to participate in this workshop.
  • Held at Womencare Counseling Center, Evanston
  • Light refreshments will be available
  • Pre-registration is required
  • Enrollment is limited to facilitate discussion
  • Limited number of partial scholarships are available
  • Program Fee $95
